For the last two years that House of Rock existed, I bartended shows nearly every weekend. Yet, no show was like PROF, a rapper from the Twin Cities who knows how to have a good time. His performance always packed the place, sweat dripping everywhere, weed lingering in the air, the floor shaking from jumping fans. And, there, on stage, PROF would spit out raps that somewhat sounded silly to me at first, but grew on me. He was mesmerizing to watch and I felt lucky to bartend such an event. Then, once the House of Rock closed I wondered if he would ever come back to Eau Claire.
Of course he would! PROF sells out shows in EC each time he’s on tour and this show was no different. The Metro hosted his show this year, and yep, it sold out yet again. The difference this year was I got the opportunity to go back/side stage to photograph his performance. The show flew by and I was awe struck that I was able to photograph him, Mac Irv, Cashinova and Willie Wonka – all extremely talented rap/hip-hop artists from the cities.
